JOB SUMMARY:
To direct and supervise all functions and activities in the Deli Department during the second shift.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1) Responsible for the performance and supervision of all deli clerk responsibilities.
2) Responsible for enforcing all of the company policies in the absence of the Deli Manager.
Responsible of the overall operation of the Deli Department on the second shift.
Always greet customers and be observant to conditions in and around the deli department including the deli case, cheese island, sandwich case, hot foods case, and warming table.
5) Assist in slicing deli meats and working the service counter.
Effectively train and supervise personnel to achieve the highest quality of customer service.
7) Report any call offs to store in charge person immediately.
7) Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
8) Insure compliance with all state, county, and local weights and measure laws.
9) Comply with sanitation, safety, and security policies according to company policies and procedures.
10) Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.
SUPPLEMENTAL
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1) Assist the Deli Manager in observing local conditions and competitive activity relating to the Deli Department.
2) Assist with cooking and preparing of all foods.
3) Assist in making deli trays when necessary.
4) Direct the operation of the hot foods cases and sub shop if applicable.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED:
1) At least one year experience in the supermarket industry.
2) Must have adequate oral and written communication skills for dealing with customers and Vendors.
3) Ability to unload, transport, and place merchandise to their designated areas.
4) Must have dexterity in hands to enable slicing and preparing of deli products.
5) Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.) up to twenty percent (20%) of the time.
6) Must be able to stand upright for the majority of your scheduled work shift.
