Middlesex Water Company – Maintenance Mechanic
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment in the facilities in a timely manner. Must maintain a safe and clean work environment by following all safety procedures and PPE requirements. The individual must act professionally and respectfully at all times. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
Work Performed- Be able to access all areas of machines and support equipment as well as all areas of the facilities.
- Must be able to work with speed and precision to meet deadlines.
- Keep work area clean and pick up job site after all work is complete.
- Check equipment for proper operation to ensure the job is complete.
- Complete preventive maintenance on all equipment as assigned.
- Have knowledge of all hand tools and power tools needed to complete tasks while using them safely.
- Ability to use construction equipment and tools safely.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting, check voltage and amperage on motors and pumps.
- Ability to use oxy/acetylene equipment for cutting and brazing.
- Ability to remove and replace pumps, motors, chemical pumps, well meters, process meters, and valves.
- Ability to do basic carpentry work and assist with facility rehab work such as roofing, siding, windows, doors, and painting.
- Have knowledge and use of computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and be able to use the WAM system efficiently.
- Act in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses- Must have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL license and pass a DOT physical exam within 12 months of hire.
- A license in one of the following is preferred but not required:
Electrical, Well Driller/Pump Installer, Wastewater, Water or Plumbing.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and complete documentation in a timely manner.
- Ability to effectively present information to peers or supervisors.
Mathematical Skills
:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Must also be able to read and use measuring devices.

- Individuals must pass a company pre-employment physical and drug screen prior to commencing work.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift up to 100 pounds, climb, crawl, stoop, reach, grasp, and stand.

- Hourly Range: $17.59 - $26.39 hourly, based on experience and qualifications.
