Homeless Services and Attendance Support Liaison (2026‑2027 School Year)
Responsibilities- Monitors and maintains mandated compliance documentation for McKinney‑Vento.
- Understands and is knowledgeable of the McKinney‑Vento Act.
- Compiles a variety of forms, reports, documentation, and records from various sources for McKinney‑Vento.
- Assists in the accurate identification and monitoring of students participating in McKinney‑Vento.
- Assists with End‑of‑Year reports and Best Interest Meetings.
- Confer with guardians/parents periodically to involve families in educational plans for their children.
- Provide and maintain files of homeless students.
- Ensure homeless students have full and equal opportunity to succeed in the district’s schools and monitor their progress throughout the school year.
- Communicate to all school district residents what services and resources are available for people in a homeless situation.
- Maintain a data collection system, recording all interactions with homeless students/families and tracking changes to living or transportation needs.
- Ensure parents/guardians and unaccompanied youth are fully informed of all transportation services and are assisted in accessing them.
- Access the needs of homeless students/families through phone calls, school visits, and home visits.
- Order and distribute homeless posters, informational brochures, folders, and other materials to all district buildings and assess usage.
- Order clothing for homeless students and maintain a spreadsheet of clothing needs.
- Coordinate and support the District McKinney‑Vento Liaison in delivering services to homeless students.
- Receive and place calls to parents/guardians to provide resource information and troubleshoot transportation issues.
- Enter homeless students’ status and services in Infinite Campus.
- Keep files of McKinney‑Vento eligibility questionnaires from all schools.
- Assist the District McKinney‑Vento Liaison in distributing supplies that benefit children, youth and families.
- Investigate problems reported by the District McKinney‑Vento Liaison that impact immediate student enrollment.
- Collaborate with the District McKinney‑Vento Liaison to maintain the homeless database for direct services documentation and data collection.
- Ensure student attendance conforms to school standards and district policies.
- Work with community organizations that can positively impact student attendance.
- Maintain a caseload of students to routinely check attendance and academic progress.
- Serve as support for students transitioning from alternative programs.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Student Services and the District McKinney‑Vento Liaison.
- Ability to make sound judgments, maintain confidentiality, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrate flexibility, common sense, and good judgment.
- Keep abreast of all information pertinent to the job.
- Have basic computer knowledge.
- Be a team player, accept constructive criticism, and work well with others.
- Be highly organized, able to multitask, detail‑oriented, and self‑motivated.
- Have excellent memory and function well under stress.
- Demonstrate an extremely high regard for confidential and sensitive information.
- Manage time appropriately and follow district and school policies and procedures.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

QualificationsPass Para‑Pro Test or hold an Associate Degree or its equivalent or 60 college credits.
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
