Role Overview :
The Editor – HT Tech will lead Hindustan Times’ technology coverage across digital and video platforms. This role is responsible for shaping editorial strategy, breaking exclusive stories, and driving audience and revenue growth through SEO-led, affiliate-focused content. The Editor will manage a high-performing team, oversee multimedia storytelling, and ensure authoritative, fast, and credible tech journalism across platforms, while balancing editorial excellence with data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Editorial & Content
- - Own and manage the technology section across web and video platforms
- Identify, break, and edit exclusive tech stories,reviews, and analyses
- Set daily, weekly, and long-term editorial agendas for tech coverage.
- Lead and expand affiliate-driven content including buying guides, product comparisons, deal stories, and reviews
- Identify high-intent keywords and seasonal opportunities (sales events, launches, festive periods) for affiliate growth
- Ensure high editorial standards, accuracy, and speed in publishing
- Drive organic traffic growth through SEO-first content strategies
- Track performance metrics such as CTR, conversions, and revenue contribution, and refine strategy accordingly
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of content producers.
Video & Multimedia
- Conceptualize, script, shoot, and oversee production of tech videos
- Manage and grow You Tube channels and video-led formats
- Do video explainers, and event coverage where required
- Strengthen social media presence through platform-specific content
Key Skills & Competencies
- - Well-connected in the consumer tech space, including OEMs and D2C brands.
- Play the content evangelist role in terms of displaying thought leadership and content-led monetisation initiatives
- Strong understanding of consumer tech, gadgets, gaming, AI, and enterprise tech
- Proven experience in digital-first journalism and newsroom.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Hands-on video production and on-camera confidence
- Deep knowledge of SEO, analytics, and audience development
- Ability to manage tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom
Tools & Platforms
- - Google Analytics, Google Trends, Search Console
- CMS & Word Press
- You Tube Analytics and social media platforms
- Basic video editing tools (Premiere Pro or equivalent)
Education
- - Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related field preferred
- Advanced qualifications in digital media or journalism will be an advantage.
