Pool Supervisor (Seasonal)

City of Volga, South Dakota

The Pool Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination, and supervision of swimming lessons, aquatic programs, and daily pool operations. This position provides leadership to lifeguard and seasonal staff, promotes a safe and positive environment for patrons, and ensures that all policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed at all times.

• Assist with planning, scheduling, and implementing swimming lessons and pool programs.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to lifeguards and seasonal staff.
• Monitor pool activities and enforce safety rules and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with parents, patrons, and staff.
• Maintain records including attendance, time sheets, and staff performance documentation.
• Support a clean, safe, and organized facility environment.
• Attend and assist with swimming lessons across all ability levels.
• Work closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator and assist as needed.

• Must be 18 years old by May 1.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and Water Safety Instructor Certification required by June 1.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with youth programs or youth development preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and reliability.

This is a seasonal position with varied hours including evenings and weekends. Schedule and hours are dependent on programming and staffing needs. Approximately 30-40hrs/week.

Starting wage: $17–$18 per hour (DOE/Q).
