We are currently seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and experienced Permanent Accountant to join our team in the construction/landscape sector. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the daily operations of our finance department. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where new ideas are encouraged and collaboration is a must.

This is a full-time, permanent position that requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and a strong ability to apply these principles to a real-world setting.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
• Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.
• Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and accounts receivable are collected promptly.
• Manage and process payroll for company employees.
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and a system of controls over accounting transactions.
• Coordinate and complete annual audits and provide recommendations for improving procedures and systems for initiating corrective actions.
• Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls.
• Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual reports and liaise with external auditors.
• Maintain a coherent system of accounts, with a supporting filing system.
• Use Quick Books for various accounting duties and financial management.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction/landscape industry.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Hands-on experience with accounting software, preferably Quick Books.
• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and management skills.
• Experience in managing a team and fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
• Experience in services related to payroll such as writing checks and submitting payroll taxes.
• Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations.
• Knowledge of cost accounting procedures and experience in construction and/or landscape industry is a plus.
