An award-winning, financially strong private club in South Florida is seeking an experienced Controller to join its executive leadership team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives in a high-volume hospitality environment and is looking for a long-term leadership position with a clear path toward advancement.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations while serving as a strategic business partner to department leaders across the organization. The successful candidate will be hands-on, highly collaborative, and comfortable leading a small but high-performing accounting team in a service-focused culture.
Responsibilities- Oversee all daily accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting analyses.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash flow management.
- Lead the annual financial audit and coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Review payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and corporate credit card activity.
- Monitor food and beverage inventory, cost of goods, and other operational financial metrics.
- Partner with department leaders to provide financial guidance and operational analysis.
- Support capital improvement projects and construction accounting as needed.
- Play a key role in implementing new financial systems and improving accounting processes.
The successful candidate will bring a strong hospitality finance background along with outstanding interpersonal skills.
Qualified candidates will possess:
- Progressive accounting leadership experience within a private club, resort, hotel, or other complex hospitality operation.
- Experience overseeing financial operations for organizations with approximately $30 million or more in annual revenue.
- Strong understanding of food and beverage financial reporting, inventory controls, and cost management.
- Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative leadership style with the flexibility to adapt in a team-oriented culture.
- Strong analytical abilities and advanced Excel skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA designation is preferred but not required.
Compensation: $140,000 - $160,000 base (commensurate with experience), Comprehensive Health, Dental, Vision, 401k with large company match, ST and LT disability, life insurance, 2 weeks PTO, and much more!
