Overview

This is responsible bookkeeping and clerical work that timely and accurately prepares and maintains Palm Tran payroll. An employee in a position allocated to this class works under the direction of the Payroll Supervisor. This position is responsible for collecting, compiling, coding, editing and entering payroll data into a computerized system; troubleshooting record keeping and data entry issues; maintaining timekeeping records and files;

preparing reports; answering operators’ and supervisors’ payroll-related questions. This position requires significant emphasis on attention to detail, accuracy, timeliness and confidentiality. Work is performed under the supervision of the Section Manager and is reviewed through conferences, written reports, observations of work and obtained results.

Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; plus, two (2) years of professional experience in payroll, finance, accounting or related work appropriate to area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience sufficient to carry out the duties of the position. Must pass a written exercise for the fiscal series. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license at the time of appointment.

Associates Degree; knowledge of public sector processes and procedures; working knowledge of payroll or accounting related software (must specify on application).
