Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Administrator for the Creative Arts School is responsible for the administration and overall management of classroom operations, events planning, volunteer recruitment and training, and art instruction. This position works to ensure a variety of safe, quality educational opportunities are made accessible to the public through the school’s arts education and youth camp programs.

The Program Administrator works with a high degree of independence and builds and maintains strong relationships within the arts community to attract artists, promote educational offerings, and special events, and attract new members while enhancing the public image of the museum.

This part-time position will provide support to the Program Manager.

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Establishes initiatives to fulfill the mission of the Creative Arts School and increase local, statewide, national, and international awareness and prominence.
  • Oversees the school’s operations including development, education and public programming, and staffing.
  • Teaches various art classes to adults and children.
  • Works closely with curators and installers to establish art exhibitions.
  • Works to ensure proper grant management/compliance and reporting.
  • Manages and leads art instructors and volunteers. Serves as a liaison to artists and art non-profits in the city.
  • Establishes goals and work priorities for the school, provides meaningful performance feedback to instructors and volunteers, nurtures and supports individual development, and recognizes and celebrates achievements.
  • Works collaboratively with the Communications Department and other city staff in support of joint initiatives that promote the arts. Consults on facility rentals and opportunities to expand the use of all facility spaces.
  • Leads and participates in all fundraising and programming development activities and contributes to grant writing and submission with the oversight and approval of the city.
  • Participates in the development of revenue-generating programs and services.
  • Serves as spokesperson for the Creative Arts School program.
  • Establishes strong partnerships in the community continually working to attract and retain members and provide opportunities to engage art enthusiasts. Leverage digital marketing and multiple communication channels to enhance the public image of the Museum and to solicit interest and support.
  • Coordinates with the city's communications to develop new public relations and marketing strategies to raise the profile and brand recognition of the school.
  • Manages, secures, and maintains access to the school in coordination with their supervisor and facilities operations staff.
  • Oversees management, acquisition, inventory, storage, maintenance of supplies and materials.
  • Recommends changes to the annual budget and identifies new initiatives.
  • Works a variable schedule, including weekends and evenings. Performs other duties and contributes to projects as needed.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fine Art or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in business or non-profit arts management.
