Pacifica Engineering Services, LLC is a fast-growing, multi-disciplinary engineering firm providing geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, threshold inspections, private provider services, environmental consulting, and specialty testing services throughout Florida.

We are looking for a strong Senior Project Engineer to help lead and support our Construction Materials Testing Department.

Position Summary

Pacifica Engineering Services is seeking a Senior Project Engineer with strong experience in construction materials testing, field inspections, laboratory testing, report review, project management, and client coordination.

This individual must be a licensed Florida Professional Engineer, PE
, with at least 8 years of relevant experience in construction materials testing. The ideal candidate understands field operations, communicates well with contractors and clients, can review technical reports, and can help manage multiple active projects across Florida.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee construction materials testing projects, including soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, reinforcing steel, structural steel, and related field and laboratory testing services.
  • Review daily field reports, laboratory results, density reports, concrete reports, compaction data, and other testing documentation for technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide engineering recommendations related to construction materials, site conditions, testing results, nonconforming work, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, and internal field staff.
  • Support scheduling, staffing, project coordination, technical troubleshooting, and quality control within the materials testing department.
  • Prepare and review technical letters, engineering evaluations, test result summaries, and closeout documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers, project managers, inspectors, technicians, and field staff.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with project specifications, ASTM standards, ACI requirements, FDOT requirements when applicable, and applicable building code requirements.
  • Assist with client communication, proposal support, project budgeting, and department growth.
Required Qualifications
  • Florida Professional Engineer, PE license required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of soils, concrete, asphalt, masonry, reinforcing steel, structural steel, laboratory testing, and field inspection procedures.
  • Experience reviewing field and laboratory reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate clearly with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Strong technical writing and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of ASTM, ACI, FDOT, and Florida Building Code requirements is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience managing CMT operations for commercial, residential, infrastructure, municipal, aviation, healthcare, education, or high-rise construction projects.
  • Prior experience supervising field technicians and inspectors.
  • FDOT project experience is a plus.
  • Experience with threshold inspection or special inspection coordination is a plus.
