We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the technical execution, strategic growth, and operational performance of our engineering organization. This leader will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams supporting utility, energy, power delivery, renewable energy, and infrastructure projects throughout the full EPC project lifecycle.
The Director of Engineering will play a critical role in driving technical excellence, supporting business development efforts, overseeing engineering delivery, and partnering closely with project management and construction teams to ensure successful project execution. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while helping scale engineering operations to support continued company growth.
This role requires being onsite 1-2x each week.
Key Responsibilities- Engineering Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams across electrical, civil, structural, and design disciplines.
- Establish engineering standards, design procedures, quality assurance programs, and best practices across the organization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on project delivery, engineering efficiency, quality, and resource utilization.
- Build a high-performance engineering culture centered on accountability, technical excellence, collaboration, and professional development.
- Support workforce planning, talent acquisition, succession planning, and team growth initiatives.
- Provide executive-level technical leadership on complex utility, power, infrastructure, and energy projects.
- Oversee engineering execution for EPC projects from opportunity assessment through construction closeout and project turnover.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet scope, schedule, budget, quality, and constructability requirements.
- Partner closely with project management, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to support successful project delivery.
- Support project planning, scheduling, risk management, forecasting, and resource allocation activities.
- Resolve technical challenges and design issues that arise during engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
- Provide construction support, field engineering guidance, and design oversight throughout project execution.
- Lead engineering participation in proposal development, competitive pursuits, and strategic business opportunities.
- Review and contribute to RFP responses, technical proposals, project scopes, cost estimates, and execution strategies.
- Support client presentations, technical workshops, and project interviews.
- Partner with executive leadership on growth strategy, market expansion, forecasting, and new service offerings.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen engineering capabilities and expand market presence.
- Support construction operations through engineering reviews, constructability assessments, and field support.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout execution.
- Review contractor performance and ensure compliance with project requirements, specifications, and quality standards.
- Lead value engineering initiatives and evaluate procurement and construction strategies to improve project outcomes.
- Provide guidance on design-to-construction transitions and field implementation strategies.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor and trusted partner for utility, energy, renewable, and infrastructure clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, engineering consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Support contract negotiations, execution planning, and long-term client development efforts.
- Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and client engagements.
- Stay informed on emerging industry trends, technologies, regulations, and market developments.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
