* This position's headquarters is negotiable within broward, charlotte, citrus, collier, desoto, glades, hardee, hendry, hernando, highlands, hillsborough, indian river, lee, manatee, marion, martin, okeechobee, palm beach, pasco, pinellas, polk, sarasota, st. Lucie, and sumter counties.

Minimum requirements:
A high school diploma or its equivalent and nine (9) years of professional experience in environmental protection, regulation or health; one of the physical or natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education; or
A high school diploma or its equivalent and five (5) years of experience as a managerial, policy-making, administrator coordinating the planning administration, data analysis and research activities of an environmental related program, three (3) years of which must have been at the supervisory level; or
A high school diploma or its equivalent and four (4) years of combined experience as an environmental specialist i or higher with the state of florida; or
A bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering and five (5) years of professional experience in environmental protection, regulation or health; one of the physical or natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering; or
A master's degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences, agriculture, or engineering and four (4) years of professional experience as described above; or
A doctorate (8 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences agriculture, or engineering and two (2) years of professional experience as described above.
Requires possession of a valid class e driver license.
Educational note: graduates utilizing education attained in the united states to meet the minimum requirements of a position will not be appointed until verification of the applicable degree has been obtained. Foreign trained graduates utilizing a degree attained outside of the united states to meet the minimum requirements of a position must be prepared to provide a copy of a credential evaluation conducted by an approved credential evaluation agency.

Additional requirements:
Employees appointed to positions involved in the management of field staff responsible for the inspection of food establishments under authority of chapter 500, florida statutes, must possess and maintain a functional working knowledge of the training and certification required by 5k-4.021, f.a.c..
This position has regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of s.112.313, f.s., and section 60l - 36.003, florida administrative code.
This position has vendor invoice/warrant processing responsibility 215.422, f.s.
Occasional travel required.
Some tasks will require evening, weekend and/or holiday activity, including overnight and/or extended travel.
