General Description

A new radiation oncology facility in Delray Beach is seeking self-motivated radiation therapists with a passion for facilitating patient-centered cancer care. Outstanding radiation therapy skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, compassion, integrity and willingness to learn are essential. The requirements are for the radiation therapist to practice safe and appropriate patient care within the Standards of Radiation Therapy Practice. Additionally, the ideal radiation therapist candidate will possess strong critical thinking and problem solving skills and communicate positively and professionally.

This position is full time.

Because proton therapy is a limited resource we are available to run from 6AM to 10PM.If the machine experiences delays we would ask that you stay later to finish the patient list.

There might be occasional Saturday’s due to extended downtime which are financially incentivized.

Your weekly hours will average around 40 a week.

The proton machine is a Pro Beam, but we realize experience for these machines is limited.

Responsibilities
  • Performs daily radiation therapy treatments and / or simulation procedures.
  • Works as an engaged team member in their assigned area.
  • Works with care team to provide high quality, compassionate and consistent care.
  • Follows all policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Helps maintain work area and helps maintain proper supplies stock in the treatment area.
  • Maintains efficient schedule by cooperating with team members and maintaining good workflow processes.
  • Always places patient care first.
  • Reports any equipment problems to engineering staff promptly, and assists, if required, to investigate problem.
  • Provides feedback to Manager on any process improvement opportunities.
  • Maintains positive relationships with other team members, nursing, dosimetry, physics, physicians, administration, partner hospitals, engineering., etc
  • Assures procedures performed, are code captured accurately in Aria.
  • Reviews patient electronic charts for accuracy and completeness.
  • Works with patients to provide convenient appointment schedules.
  • Compiles reports of any deviations in planned treatment delivery and notifies Manager immediately.
Work Experience Requirements
  • Three years of experience as a certified Radiation Therapist preferred
Qualifications
  • Associates Degree or Certificate in Radiation Therapy from an Accredited School
  • Certified with the ARRT as a Radiation Therapist
  • Current State of Florida Radiation Therapy license in good standing
  • Ability to work a varied work schedule is required
  • Prefer True Beam experience but will train the right candidate
  • Current BLS/CPR license
  • Functional computer literacy including Microsoft word and experience with electronic medical record software
  • 3 Years of post-graduate, hands on, radiation oncology experience preferable
  • Experience with the following equipment:
    Varian, Aria, and CT. Also familiar with SBRT and SRS.
  • Must be able to lift, move, and assist patients to treatment couch. Must have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted and 50 pounds assisted.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods at a time.
Education/Degree
  • Associates degree or certificate in radiation therapy from an accredited school
  • ARRT current certification, with full CE compliance.
Other
  • Exposures to hazardous risks include radiation exposure (under the ALARA principle), potential exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment and chemicals. Potential for bodily injury due to lifting. Required to follow universal precautions. Exposure to cleaning / sterilization agents. Hazards will be minimal if proper safety precautions are utilized. Work is mainly performed in an area with no natural light, and in close proximity to other team members.
