Welder Fabricator

McGill Environmental Systems seeks a Welder Fabricator to support construction and maintenance of industrial-scale composting equipment and structures. This role fabricates, repairs, and installs metal components for conveyors, processing equipment, and facility infrastructure. Responsibilities include reading blueprints, performing MIG and stick welding, cutting and fitting steel, operating fabrication tools, and ensuring work meets safety and quality standards. The Welder Fabricator collaborates with maintenance and operations teams, supports continuous improvement, and helps keep composting operations reliable, safe, and environmentally compliant in an agricultural and industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld metal components for composting and processing equipment
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols to plan work
• Perform MIG and stick welding, cutting, fitting, and grinding of steel parts
• Repair and modify conveyors, structural supports, and facility infrastructure
• Inspect welds and fabricated parts to meet quality and safety standards
• Operate fabrication tools including torches, saws, plasma cutters, and presses
• Follow all safety, PPE, and environmental compliance requirements
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime
• Assist with installation of new equipment and facility upgrades
• Maintain tools, work areas, and documentation for completed work
