The RN provides high quality, safe, cost effective, total nursing care to all patients. The RN assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process. The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and infection control, with the goal of discharging the patient with optimum care.
Responsibilities- Report for scheduled shift on time and prepared to assume responsibilities.
- Report to work in proper uniform or attire.
- Leave for meal break on time and return on time.
- Vary work schedule to meet the needs of the department.
- Ensure all overtime has been approved by the department head prior to working.
- Schedule all time off with supervisor’s approval.
- Strictly adhere to hospital attendance/tardiness policies 100% of the time.
- Wear I.D. badge in visible location at all times on hospital property.
- Attend and participate in meetings and be responsible for information communicated at meetings.
- Attend all hospital mandatory in‑services on a timely basis as scheduled.
- Participate as an active team member at staff meetings.
- Read communications and act upon them in a positive and informative manner.
- Participate as an active participant in assigned Performance Improvement meetings.
- Adhere to corporate, regional, hospital and departmental policy and procedure 100% of the time.
- Read and comprehend the company’s Standards of Conduct; demonstrate compliance with the company’s Ethics program.
- Participate in one hour of Standards of Conduct training within the last 12 months.
- Understand that compliance with the Corporate Integrity Program is a condition of employment and that violations may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient/employee/facility/corporate information 100% of the time.
- Follow infection control procedures at all times.
- Strictly adhere to standard precautions by using personal protective equipment when handling blood or bodily fluids.
- Wash hands and other skin surfaces with soap and water thoroughly and immediately if contaminated with blood or other bodily fluids and before and after patient contact.
- Dispose of sharps in puncture‑resistant needle boxes.
- Use appropriate barrier precautions (gloves, goggles, surgical masks) during invasive procedures.
- Put specimens of blood and bodily fluids in a well‑constructed container with a secure lid and place in a biohazard coded plastic bag for transportation.
- Adhere to isolation procedures and techniques at all times as applicable.
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of safety policies and procedures, MSDS sheets, hazardous material procedures, and safety codes.
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of security issues, including personal protection and protection of personnel and hospital property.
- Adapt to varied age‑specific patient populations.
Education:
- Minimum:
Education recognized by the State of Florida as a qualification for Registered Nurse licensure. - Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Experience:
- Prior clinical experience in area of expertise preferred.
