We are seeking a part-time Perioperative Nurse to work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and occasional Fridays in our AAAASF-accredited operating rooms.
Summary / ObjectiveThe Perioperative Nurse is responsible for keeping patients safe during surgery by providing care before, during, and after surgery. This position ensures that the operating room is clean and sterile while prepping for procedures and is present in the operating room to assist the surgeon. Responsibilities include positioning the patient, sterilizing wounds, and monitoring the patient’s vital signs.
Responsibilities- Deliver safe patient care according to facility policies and procedures.
- Assess the patient’s condition prior to surgery.
- Monitor the patient during surgery.
- Assist the surgeon in the operating room; position patients, pass surgeon sterile supplies, etc.
- Maintain aseptic technique within a controlled environment.
- Manage surgical equipment and supplies.
- Complete intraoperative documentation.
- Monitor physiologic status of patient in recovery.
- Demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions in emergency scenarios.
- Collaborate with surgical team members and other medical professionals on patient medication and care.
- Document medical data in Next ech (EHR system) accurately.
- Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization, working effectively as a team member with other members of management and the clinic staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- At least 1–2 years of operating room experience in an ASC/office-based surgery center preferred.
- At least 1 year of preoperative, circulating, and PACU experience required.
- Knowledge of health and safety guidelines.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills – fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Flexible schedule; operating days can start as early as 6 AM.
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification
- BS or diploma in nursing
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and occasional Fridays
