The Assistant Manager assists the Store manager in managing all day-to-day store operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. The role provides leadership, guidance, and training to the store staff under the direction of the Store Manager and assumes full responsibility for all store operations in the Manager’s absence. The Assistant Manager consistently strives to meet and exceed sales, service, and operational objectives.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Primary responsibility is the safety and welfare of employees and customers.
- Create, establish and maintain an excellent customer shopping experience, reinforce current service standards, provide service training and leadership to staff, and manage customer issues with urgency and customer satisfaction.
- Handle all POS terminal transactions in accordance with policy and procedure (sales, discounts, refunds, loyalty, open/closing procedures).
- Inventory control responsibilities include adherence to all policies and procedures regarding shipping and receiving, price management (price changes, markdowns, etc.), singles, damaged merchandise, and conducting a physical inventory.
- Sales floor merchandising and visual presentation responsibilities include adherence to company standards for merchandise placement, floor maintenance and housekeeping, and promotional event directions, materials, and signage.
- Payroll control responsibilities include adherence to all policies and procedures regarding scheduling, payroll budget compliance, and time and attendance.
- Training and development of direct reports with adherence to all policies and procedures regarding utilization of training tools and consistent reinforcement of operational standards.
- Loss prevention responsibilities with adherence to all policies and procedures protecting and controlling company assets.
- Work toward a complete understanding of managing all day-to-day operations.
Customers, Sales Associates, Store Management, District/Regional Managers, Store Operations, and Training Personnel.
Key Qualifications- An approved background check.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Managerial and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary for customer and employee interactions.
- Strong visual merchandising skills.
- Working knowledge of footwear, accessories, and shoe care.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of corporate and store operations policies and procedures.
- Complete understanding of the standards of store presentation and strong visual merchandising skills.
