Job Title
Skilled work in the general and major repair of cars, trucks and other City equipment. Work is performed under general supervision. Pay commensurate with qualifications and experience. Bonus of up to 15% based on current certifications held.
EssentialJob Duties
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Perform mechanical and service work on all City vehicles, trucks and other equipment such as: front ends; four wheel brake job; tire replacement/repair; electrical repair; tune-ups; carburetors/FI repairs; drive train repairs; diesel repair/minor/service.
- Pick up and deliver vehicles to various vendors.
- Repair parts on vehicles and equipment.
High school graduation or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. At least four (4) years mechanical experience in the automotive/truck repair. Completion of mechanical school or accredited technical school completion. Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with a good driving record. Must possess a Class B, CDL, with air brake endorsement or obtain it within six (6) months of the hiring date.
ASE Certification in truck or automotive repair preferred.

Skills:
Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction). Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid). Heavy (45 pounds and over) lifting and carrying. Reaching, Climbing, Pulling, Pushing, Walking, or Standing. Distinguish colors. Crawling, Kneeling, Bending, Balancing, toping, Driving Equipment Operation.
Environmental Conditions:
Works inside. Works outside in various weather conditions with noise, dust, fumes, grease or oils, electrical energy. Slippery surfaces. With moving objects or vehicles.
