This volunteer role supports small and artisanal miners by providing essential knowledge and tools needed for success. You will conduct needs assessments, identify relevant technologies, and facilitate training workshops to elevate skills among miners. Collaboration with local institutions will help build capacity and create community connections for long-term impact.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct needs assessments in Geita mining communities
• Identify and introduce innovative mining technologies
• Collaborate with SIDO staff to improve institutional capacity
• Connect miners with technology providers and financial institutions
• Organize training sessions on modern mining practices
Requirements:
• Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
• Experience with small-scale mining communities
• Familiarity with current mining technologies
• Excellent cross-cultural communication skills
• Background in developing countries is a plus
