Join Tsawwassen First Nation as an Assistant Fisheries Negotiator focused on implementing fisheries rights and supporting local communities. Collaborate with governments and stakeholders to ensure sustainable fisheries practices.
This full-time role emphasizes your expertise in negotiations and fisheries management. As part of TFN, you will engage in discussions with Fisheries and Oceans Canada and various First Nations, support treaty implementation, and manage fisheries policies. Your work will ensure that TFN interests are prioritized and that local ecosystems are protected and enhanced.
Key Responsibilities:
• Participate in fisheries negotiations and tracking discussions
• Support treaty provisions under TFN Final Agreement
• Monitor policy changes and their implications
• Coordinate with technical experts on fisheries data
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders and First Nations
Requirements:
• Degree in fisheries or related field
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of fisheries management systems
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Familiarity with Indigenous rights is an asset
