SUMMARY

Reports to the Manager – Maintenance, Manager – Mechanical, Manager – Continuous Improvement, Manager – Electrical, or Manager - Information Technology Services and works under the direction of the Foreperson of the specific trade (i.e. Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Grounds, Information Technology Services, or Vehicle and Equipment Services). Performs maintenance, repair, alteration, and installation tasks, including renovations and modifications. May perform minor elements of other trades.

DUTIES
  • Performs skilled work in a specific trade including inspecting, installing, upgrading, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on a variety of structures, machinery, systems, peripherals, and equipment.
  • Using the applicable hand and power tools of the trade, applies current trade standards and adheres to current governing codes, bylaws, policies, and regulations. Ensures tools, equipment and work areas are clean and safe.
  • Responds to site inquiries related to operational concerns. Performs on-site repairs and troubleshoots problems.
  • Selects, orders, and maintains an inventory of related supplies and equipment. Provides cost estimates for related supplies and equipment. Maintains records and manuals.
  • Prepares as‑built information on completed projects and tasks.
  • Loads and unloads vehicles; transports materials using District vehicles and equipment as required. Cleans checks and confirms operational safety of vehicle.
  • Operates computer equipment as required.
  • Remains current with changing technology, practices, and equipment.
  • Applies safe work practices at all times. Reports unsafe conditions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Additional Information for the Control Technician Position
  • Programming of building DDC systems using specialized software to meet specific operational sequences and optimize district mechanical and electrical systems and equipment performance. Strong knowledge of process control principles and instrumentation required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose instrumentation and control system malfunctions. Control programming and configuration are required. Expertise in pressure, temperature, level, flow, and analytical devices. Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, and schematics.
  • Installation of DDC controllers, low voltage wiring, sensors, and thermostats, as well as perform routine maintenance, calibration, and repairs of existing DDC hardware and software systems.
  • Working closely with various trades, diagnosing, and correcting mechanical and electrical problems using data from the DDC systems and testing equipment. Remote monitoring and optimization of all building systems for efficient remote troubleshooting.
  • Works closely with the Energy Manager to optimize and implement energy conservation measures and assigned projects. Analyse energy use data, and adjust DDC programming to reduce waste, peak power consumption, and improve building system efficiency.
