Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to lead field execution for high‑voltage substation and electrical construction projects across Ontario. This role oversees crews, subcontractors, safety, scheduling, and quality for all electrical scopes, including installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge of high‑voltage systems, strong leadership capability, and the ability to manage work in energized substation environments.
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise field crews performing installation, maintenance, and repair of substation electrical equipment (transformers, breakers, switch gear, control cabinets, protective relays, reactors, grounding systems)
- Oversee high‑voltage terminations, cable installation (up to 2750 kcmil), splicing, testing, and commissioning activities
- Plan and execute daily/weekly work schedules, ensuring productivity, resource allocation, and adherence to project milestones
- Conduct and enforce safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, energized work procedures, and compliance with CSA, IEEE, and local electrical codes
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to guide field execution
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, QA/QC, and commissioning teams to support project delivery and resolve technical issues
- Perform routine inspections, quality checks, and preventive maintenance oversight to ensure reliability and compliance
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and direct corrective actions in the field
- Maintain accurate daily reports, test records, redlines, and field documentation
- Support subcontractor management, material tracking, and site logistics
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and client requirements
- 7+ years of high‑voltage substation experience, including installation, testing, and commissioning
- Minimum 3+ years in a supervisory or lead role overseeing electrical crews
- Strong knowledge of protective relaying, SCADA systems, control wiring, and substation construction practices
- Proficiency with high‑voltage testing equipment (Megger, Doble, hipot testers, relay test sets)
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and schematics
- Strong understanding of LOTO procedures, electrical safety standards, and energized work environments
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent)
- Ability to work outdoors, travel to project sites (Vancouver/ Burnaby/ Richmond), and work within live substations
- Must be able to obtain NERC certification through background screening

CompensationSalary Range: $95,000 - $145,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience and unique skills.
