Pipelayer

The Pipelayer is responsible for the installation, alignment, and connection of underground piping systems including water, sanitary sewer, and storm systems, ensuring all work meets project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Install underground pipe systems including water, sanitary, and storm (PVC, HDPE, concrete, ductile iron)
- Read and interpret construction drawings, grade stakes, and laser levels
- Ensure proper pipe alignment, grade, and elevation
- Prepare trenches, including checking bedding, compaction, and trench safety
- Direct equipment operators during trenching, lifting, and back filling operations
- Perform tie-ins, connections, and pressure testing support
- Install manholes, catch basins, and related structures
- Identify and manage underground hazards and existing utilities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
- Work closely with foremen, operators, and labourers to complete tasks efficiently
- 2–5+ years of experience as a pipelayer in civil construction
- Strong knowledge of underground utility installation practices
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and grades accurately
- Experience working around heavy equipment and in trench environments
- Physically fit and able to perform demanding manual labour
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Valid driver’s license (preferred)
- Your own transportation is an asset as sites are not always on transit routes
- CSTS (Construction Safety Training System)
- Confined Space Entry / Monitor
- Ground Disturbance Level II (or equivalent)
- Occupational First Aid (Level 1 or higher)
- Pipe laser and grade checking experience
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Physically demanding (lifting, bending, working in trenches)
- Early mornings, overtime, and weekend work as required
- Travel between project sites may be required

This is a Unionized position. Expected hourly rate:
Unionized wage range for this position is $35.56 - $45.99 per hour (based on candidate’s experience), plus 10% vacation/statutory holiday pay.
Union wages and benefits include extended Union healthcare and benefits, a Union-sponsored pension plan, and additional training through the Training Plan.
