Remuneration and Benefits:

• Salary: $37.80 per hour for 35-40 hours per week.
• 4% vacation pay of gross salary each pay period.
• Overtime at 1.5 times the regular rate after 40 hours of work per week.
• Extended medical health benefits after 90 days of service.

Responsibilities:

• Construct, erect, install, maintain and repair structures and components made of wood.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes using measuring tools.
• Build cabinets, doors, windows and other wood structures.
• Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware.
• Maintain, repair and renovate cabinets and kitchens in residences and commercial establishments.
• Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated.
• Prepare cost estimates for clients.

Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Completion of a 3-4 year apprenticeship program or 2-3 years of experience in the trade is required.
• Trade certification for carpenters is an asset but not necessary.
• Proficient English reading, writing and communication skills are required.
