The Senior Mine Surveyor reports to the Chief Surveyor, and the primary role is to produce results that accurately define operations and can be used for planning and production support within the Mining Department.
Duties include:- Provide comprehensive Survey Support to the Pogo underground operation
- Establish and maintain survey wall stations. Provide adjustments as required.
- Lay out survey control associated with face blasting.
- Lay out survey control associated with long‑hole slashing.
- Update and maintain survey drawings using Deswik, Surpac or similar software.
- Prepare end of month volume and footage reports using relevant software.
- Provide training and mentoring for subordinate surveyors within the team
- Surveying Degree or Diploma or equivalent comprehensive underground survey experience.
- Five Years Underground Mine Survey experience required
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of survey theory and instruments.
- Strong working knowledge of computers and programs to process and plot surveying data.
- Competency with 3D Surveying software such as:
Deswik, Vulcan and Surpac is required - Competency with the use of Drone technology is preferred.
Working a 15 days on, 13 days off rotating schedule of days and nights, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.
Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone, internet & cable tv programs. Cell service is available when using Wi‑Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
