Senior Mine Surveyor Overview
The Senior Mine Surveyor reports to the Chief Surveyor and is responsible for producing accurate survey results that support planning and production within the Mining Department.
Duties- Provide comprehensive survey support to the underground operation.
- Establish and maintain survey wall stations and provide adjustments as required.
- Lay out survey control associated with face blasting.
- Lay out survey control associated with long‑hole slashing.
- Update and maintain survey drawings using Deswik, Surpac or similar software.
- Prepare end‑of‑month volume and footage reports using relevant software.
- Provide training and mentoring for subordinate surveyors within the team.
- Surveying degree, diploma or equivalent with comprehensive underground survey experience.
- Five years of underground mine survey experience required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of survey theory and instruments.
- Strong working knowledge of computers and programs to process and plot surveying data.
- Competency with 3D survey software such as Deswik, Vulcan and Surpac required.
- Competency with the use of drone technology preferred.
Working a 15 days on, 13 days off rotating schedule of days and nights, up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions, including weather, dust, mud, varying noise, light levels, and confined work areas.
Employees are required to stay on site at the company‑provided camp during work rotations. Camp facilities include dining service, games room, exercise & weight room, sauna, and accommodation rooms with landline phone, internet and cable TV. Cell service is available via Wi‑Fi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Tok, Alaska.
