Yard Operator​/Florklift

Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Transportation Manager, this role loads truss packs safely and securely onto trailers for delivery and unloads incoming materials.

• Load all EWP and Truss deliveries.
• Build packs of trusses in yard.
• Move finished truss packs from rollers to staging yard.
• Ensure all trusses are accounted for before and after loading trucks.
• Unload and load incoming truss deliveries (hangars, plates, orders, etc.; does not include lumber or EWP orders).
• Maintain an organized, clean staging yard.
• Ensure yard safety and prevent unbalanced truss packs that could fall or injure people.
• Report old trusses in the yard to the Production Manager or Truss Operations Manager.
• Report time off, sick time, issues, and/or needs to Truss Operations Manager.
• Build and band truss loads and hanger packs to ensure safety and security during transport.
• Load trusses onto trailers with forklift safely.
• Ensure truss webs are intact and all plates are present.
• Keep area clean.
• Assist in moving material for truss production.

• Analyze and problem‑solve tasks.
• Apply basic math skills.
• Operate power tools and hand tools.
• Apply knowledge of different types and sizes of lumber products.
• Show attention to detail, good organization, thoroughness, flexibility, teamwork.
• Use safety equipment provided.
• Operate forklift multiple times per day.
• Work in a noisy manufacturing plant environment, outdoors; weather conditions vary.
• Wear personal protective equipment (gloves, safety glasses, back braces, ear plugs).

• Lifting and pulling heavy loads; bending and extricating heavy items.
• Use of back brace recommended.
• Exposure to extreme heat or cold depending on season.

No overnight travel expected; limited travel within the state may be required for restacking truss packs.

• Effective communication in English.

• One to two years of truss manufacturing experience.
