Description:
Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients in the emergency room.
Triages each patient and determines priority of care based on physical, psychological, and social needs.
Considers factors influencing patient flow through the emergency care system.
Time management is crucial.
Responsible for moving patients, taking blood samples, cleaning and bandaging wounds, administering medications, and maintaining proper supplies.
Performs focused assessments of chief complaints of each patient in a timely manner according to established triage guidelines.
Carries out patient care according to hospital policies and procedures.
Functions within the limitations of the Nurse Practice Act.
TNCC required upon hire or within 1 year.
ENPC or PALS required within 6 months; ENPC preferred.
