Job Summary
Leads a team of Mechanical and Motion Control Engineers, Designers & Technicians responsible for engineering development, building, and testing hardware solutions for Accuray products. Expected to provide guidance and mentorship, manage performance, select, and develop employees. This position also provides high-level technical direction and provides input on design architecture and project prioritization.
Reporting To / DepartmentReports to the Sr. Director of Electromechanical Systems in the Electromechanical Systems department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Leads and mentors a team of engineers, designers & technicians who support the engineering team working on the electronic control system of the Radixact and Cyber Knife Delivery Systems.
- Grows leadership and organization structure within the Mechanical Systems team.
- Provides resource capacity management planning and actuals to program management.
- Provides input into department project priorities.
- Solicits and provides meaningful feedback with the team to grow strengths and capabilities.
- Manages budgetary needs and participates in the budget process.
- Provides technical leadership to support the larger mechanical systems team.
- Preferred or Desired: Familiarity with supporting project management, providing estimates and budgeting. Experience engineering hardware in a regulated industry.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, 7 years of experience in hardware development and at least 4 years of demonstrated successful engineering team management.
- Excellent communicator on both a technical level with engineers and a project level with stakeholders and executives.
- Demonstrated understanding of development processes and an interest in driving successful projects through process improvement.
- Willingness to perform a broad range of tasks to ensure the success of the development team.
- Comfort working alongside several remote teams around the world to solve issues and deliver value to our products.
- Must be able to furnish proof that they are authorized to work in the country they are applying in permanently without sponsorship.
