Summary

Under the direct supervision of the DWI Coordinator, the Court Compliance Officer will provide oversight for misdemeanor DWI, alcohol/substance involved domestic violence, and other misdemeanor cases which are deemed appropriate by program guidelines and as assigned for supervision by Magistrate and District Courts. Court Compliance Officers attend court hearings, prepare status reports and probation violations as need to keep offenders in compliance and work closely with the Courts, Enforcement Agencies, Treatment Providers, and other community partners providing services that support client completion of sanctions and that are aimed at reducing recidivism.

Full Time Term Employee Salary and Benefits are funded and paid on term basis, contingent upon continued funding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track documentation and enter data on a software program. Must maintain confidentiality policies and be familiar with HIPPA regulations. Provide and promote program information to the community. Must maintain a working knowledge of program plans, policies and performance standards.
  • Administer state-approved assessments, attend court proceedings, obtain Judgement and Sentence documents from the courts, maintain database up to date, provide referrals to DWI School and treatment providers.
  • Court Compliance Officers must possess excellent communication skills written and verbal and are required to complete Compliance Officer Basic Training within one year of hire and attend ongoing trainings to support continuous professional growth and development and CEU requirements for Compliance Officer position.
  • Cour Compliance Officer must adhere to the NM State Misdemeanor Compliance Program Guidelines. Conducts daily client probation appointments, which includes urinalysis and breathalyzer testing, updating telephone and address changes; advises clients of upcoming deadlines; monitors compliance with treatment; receives payments; makes probation progress notes; and schedules monthly probation appointments.
  • Completes a variety of paperwork and reports including positive urinalysis reports, notice of court appearance, completion of community service, ignition interlock reports, treatment compliance and noncompliance, certificates of completion such as DWI school, Victims Impact Panel, completion of community service, donations, restitution, and requesting court documents.
  • Communicates daily to respond to inquiries and questions and provide information via telephone, voice message, e‑mail and written correspondence.
  • Attends a variety of meetings including staff meetings, committee meetings and other special meetings to exchange information, network, and discuss relevant issues and concerns; attends training sessions to maintain knowledge and skills related to work performed.

Supervision: Works under the direct supervision of the Detention Center Warden but will work closely with the DWI Program Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises no one.

Minimum Qualification Standards
  • Education, Certification and Experience
    • Must be able to pass a background investigation including work history, character, honesty, integrity, criminal record, and driving record.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.
    • Associate degree and two years of experience in the judiciary, in a criminal justice position or in counseling. Relevant education may substitute for experience and relevant experience may substitute for education at a rate of 30 semester hours equating to one year of full‑time work experience. Knowledge of approved principles and practices of law enforcement and applicable laws and ordinances. (preferred)
    • Completion of the preapproved Court Officer Basic Training course within one year of hire.
