Position Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Electrician will maintain, install, and repair electrical hardware systems, electronic controls, and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
- Repair of Programmable Logic Controllers
- Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.
- Troubleshoots equipment to properly diagnose malfunctioning electrical equipment such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures.
- Replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, also positions sensing devices.
- Diagnose, repair, or replace faulty electrical components, such as printed circuit boards.
- Replace electric motor bearings and rewires motors.
- Plans layouts and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical devices in buildings.
- Diagnose and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.
- Use of LOTO while working on equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Forklift License
- Electrical license or 2 years of schooling or equivalent experience
- 2 years of experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers preferred
- Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, is required. Ability to communicate with levels across the organization will be required.
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. - While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
