CBP Aircraft Mechanic II
The CBP Aircraft Mechanic II maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
Responsibilities- Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and operation.
- Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturers’ manuals.
- Perform daily, flight line and hangar maintenance on all assigned aircraft.
- Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
- Furnish own hand tools to perform maintenance of aircraft; special tools and test equipment will be provided.
- Occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft-related tasks.
- Make entries in aircraft logs and records as required.
- Prioritize workload schedules on assigned projects.
- Valid State driver’s license.
- Willingness to undergo random drug tests.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
- High school graduate or equivalent diploma from an accredited program.
- Valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
- Competent in repair and maintenance of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and aircraft systems, including airframes, structural, hydraulics, fuel, electrical systems, and engines.
- Proficient in troubleshooting, reading and interpreting schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and directives from FAA, Company, and others.
- Reliable, good judgment, and ability to follow base, federal and company procedures for hazardous waste disposal.
- Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain workflow.
- Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret technical data.
- Must be able to perform aircraft mechanic duties including moving freely within the aircraft interior and meeting specific weight limits.
- Stand, squat, sit, walk, and work with arms overhead for extended periods.
- May be required to wear a respirator.
- Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work in high-noise areas may require ear protection.
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
Hourly Rate: $42.77
