Description Summary

Under the direction of the Starmax Director, or designee the Mechanic will perform a range of duties to include inspect, service, repair and maintain all Starmax equipment, to include bowling lanes, batting cages, bumper cars, theaters, and arcade.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Ensures all pinsetters and mechanical equipment is working efficiently and properly maintained in compliance with USBC standards.

The mechanic will follow preventative maintenance schedules on all bowling equipment, this includes pinsetters, ball returns, lane machine, lane surfaces, bumper and gutter systems and automatic scoring systems.

The mechanic will apply standard trade practices in diagnosing equipment malfunctions by referring to manufactures diagrams, specifications and schematics.

Follow preventative maintenance schedules

Troubleshoot and repair all mechanical bowling equipment, batting cages and bumper cars

Inspect and test all mechanical bowling equipment, bumper cars and batting cages daily

Identify, locate and order parts as necessary

Maintain equipment records and document work performed

Typical Qualifications Education, Certification and

Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid Driver's License/no restrictions
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test

Physical Demands

Lifting: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, often over 50 pounds, including equipment parts and tools.

Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, stooping, or kneeling to access equipment and perform repairs.

Standing for Extended Periods: Ability to stand for long periods while inspecting and repairing equipment.

Climbing: Ability to climb ladders or work at heights when accessing elevated equipment.

Reaching and Grasping: Frequent reaching above shoulder level and grasping tools and equipment.

Manual Dexterity:
Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for using tools and performing intricate repairs.

Walking on Uneven Surfaces: Ability to walk on various surfaces, including slippery or uneven floors in maintenance areas.

Carrying and Pushing: Ability to carry and push equipment or tools as necessary.

Working in Confined Spaces: Ability to work in tight or confined spaces when accessing machinery.

Endurance: Stamina to work long hours, especially during busy periods or when responding to urgent repairs.

Work Environment

Indoor and Outdoor Work: The role may involve working both indoors (e.g., in bowling alleys, arcades) and outdoors (e.g., for maintenance of outdoor equipment).

Noise Levels: Exposure to moderate to high noise levels from machinery, equipment, and activity in entertainment venues.

Temperature Variations: Working in environments that may be subject to varying temperatures, depending on the season and location of the equipment.

Hazardous Materials: Potential exposure to chemicals, lubricants, and other materials used in maintenance and repairs, requiring proper safety precautions.

Mechanical Hazards: Working with and around moving parts, tools, and heavy equipment, necessitating adherence to safety protocols.

Crowded Spaces: Working in crowded environments, particularly during busy times when patrons are present, requiring awareness of surroundings.
