Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic B will ensure production equipment is operating safely, reliably, and in optimal manner. This role will observe all plant equipment with intent of recommending continuous equipment improvement and reliability. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members, in order to accomplish accuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products.
This position executes processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms ’ mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles:

Essential Functions
- Troubleshoot and repair all related plant equipment in a timely manner and with minimum downtime, demonstrating urgency and accuracy.
- Complete work orders, part requisitions, and preventative maintenance on time and on schedule with accuracy and excellent craftsmanship.
- Encourage good safety practice and ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are maintained within the department and promote engagement and leadership.
- Train mechanics within lower classification and maintain a clean and safe well‑organized working environment for all.
- Maintain good working relationships and communication with all levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farms are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products. The food safety and quality policies are summarized and communicated in a company handbook and at training sessions. Each new hire is provided a handbook and attends a food safety training session before beginning work. All employees attend a refresher training session at least once per year.
Records are maintained reflecting the distribution of employee handbooks and attendance at the training sessions.
Physical Requirements
Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor.
- Must be able to withstand a cold (40‑48 °F) environment.
- Must be able to withstand a hot (80+ °F) environment.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to work in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to push, pull, bend, kneel, and crouch/squat.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E‑verify.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in the food industry.
- Must be able to perform basic math functions.
- Must be able to comprehend equipment manuals and instructions.
- Must have a solid understanding of electronics and PLCs.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and have the ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Must be able to use welding and cutting equipment.
- Must be capable of understanding electrical controls, wiring devices, motor controls, VEFs, relay logic, and solid‑state devices and controls.
