PositionSummary
The Refrigeration Technician will repair, install, and adjust all refrigeration equipment. The role will operate the ammonia refrigeration system and related equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with the plant Process Safety Management (PSM) Program. This position works closely with supervisors, department leads, and processing team members to ensure accurate operations and quality products.
Essential Functions- Must be at the workstation on time with all work apparel clean, sanitized, and all required safety equipment.
- Must obey all safety, USDA, HACCP, and plant rules and regulations.
- Must know shop mathematics, be able to interpret drawings, and use required tools.
- Must be able to work around Anhydrous Ammonia.
- Perform routine maintenance on Ammonia compressors, air system drying equipment, and air system controls.
- Other duties as assigned.
All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farms are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products. All employees receive a handbook and attend initial and annual food‑safety training sessions, with records maintained for each.
Physical Requirements- Stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor.
- Withstand a cold (40‑48°F) environment.
- Withstand a hot (80°F+) environment.
- Safely lift up to 100 lbs.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Climb stairs and/or ladders.
- Work in confined spaces and heights.
- Push, pull, bend, kneel, and crouch/squat.
- Pass Hazmat physical and Pulmonary Test yearly.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E‑verify.
- Read and write English.
- Have reliable transportation.
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- Previous refrigeration or ammonia experience preferred.
- Communicate with all levels, including management.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Make decisions regarding deviations from procedures.
- Operate forklift and/or pallet jack safely and obtain a company‑issued forklift license.
- Wear company‑provided personal protective equipment (PPE).
