Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic Bwillensure production equipment isoperatingsafely, reliably, and inoptimalmanner.
This role willobserveall plant equipment with intent of recommending continuous equipment improvement and reliability. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other department leads,and processing team members,in order toaccomplishaccuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products.
Thispositionexecutesprocessesthat ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms ’ mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles:

Essential Functions
- Troubleshoot and repair all related plant equipment in a timely manner and with minimum downtime demonstrating urgency and accuracy.
- Complete work orders, part requisitions, and preventative maintenance on time and on schedule with accuracy and excellent craftsmanship.
- Encourage good safety practice and ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are maintained within the department and promote engagement and leadership.
- Train mechanics within lower classification and maintain a clean and safe well organize working environments for all.
- Maintain a good working relationship and communication with all levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor
- Must be able to withstand a cold (40-48 degree) environment.
- Must be able to withstand a hot (80+ degree) environment.
- Must be able to safely lift up to 100lbs.
- Must be able to work in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Must be able to push, pull, bend, kneel, and crouch/squat.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in the food industry.
- Must be about to perform basic math functions.
- Must be able to comprehend equipment manuals and instructions.
- Must have a solid understanding of electronics and PLCs.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and have the ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Must be able to use welding and cutting equipment.
- Must be capable of understanding electrical controls, wiring devises, motor controls, VEFs, relay logic, and solid‑state devices and controls.
- Must be familiar with pumps, understand gear ratios, operate have and power tools.
- Must have a solid understanding of OSHA standards and guidelines.
- Must have knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment functions.
- Must have fabrication skills as well as mill and lathe knowledge.
- Ability to communicate with all levels including management.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Decision making ability for the flagging of deviation from procedures.
- Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for their coworkers.
- Must be able to safely operate forklift and/or pallet jack.
- Must be able to pass company Forklift assessments to obtain company issued Forklift license.
- Must wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
