Your RoleAs Associate you will conduct portfolio management activities, including analysis and reporting of client performance and the management of client related tasks such as disbursements, amendments and waivers. You will also be involved in the execution of new transactions and report to the Manager Africa.
We are looking for a professional that combines experience corporate banking or private equity with a passion for impact investments in the agribusiness sector. The Associate is proactive, curious, customer focused and delivers high quality output.
Responsibilities- Monitoring:
- Preparation of credit reviews including market and financial analysis;
- Build and maintain relationships with relevant people in the investee company;
- Drafting of disbursement memos and change requests;
- Client monitoring visits (when needed).
- Provide support in originating and executing new deals:
- Preparation of investment proposals, undertaking analysis and discussions with internal staff & clients as appropriate;
- Market research relevant for the Agri sector;
- Administrative tasks with regards to file completion (compliance and reporting);
- Planning and execution of due diligence visits;
- Excel financial modelling to prepare projections;
- Analysis of financial data including ratios, budgets etc;
- Legal contracting;
- Participates in internal project teams (including outside the Africa team) where needed.

- Gross yearly salary between EUR 60K – 70K (including holiday allowance and 13th month), depending on seniority, years of experience and background.

The Agribusiness, Food & Forestry department contributes to sustainable food security globally, using fewer resources. The department focuses on economic growth, rural development, and climate change by investing in companies that support a sustainable value chain. The department has five distinct investment teams. Each team oversees a specific region or sub‑sector, such as Africa, Latin America & The Caribbean, East and Central Asia, or Forestry.
This structure enables us to develop customized strategies and create a high‑performance culture.
The Africa team consists of 15 investment professionals (including this vacancy) with diverse backgrounds and work in our offices in The Hague, Johannesburg, Nairobi and Abidjan. The team is responsible for a portfolio of around 20 clients and greater than EUR 600 million exposure and supported by a team of environmental, social, insurance, legal and compliance specialists.
Your Background- Master's degree – preferably in finance, business administration, engineering or economics.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in financial services (banking / private equity).
- Experience in credit analysis and execution of debt transactions in emerging markets. Knowledge of Africa and / or development finance is a plus.
- Knowledge of and affinity with the agribusiness sector including ESG topics.
