Organization

Invest International opened its doors in October 2021, in The Hague. We are a state-owned company set up by the Dutch government. A private company funded with public capital. Our people, network and knowledge allow us to maximize impact for our stakeholders.

Next to managing Invest International’s own core capital, the Private Sector Department carries out various programs and schemes for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Development Cooperation aimed at financing international activities of Dutch companies. The Private Sector Department consists of three client teams: SME & Midsized Corporates, Large Corporates and Equity.

The Equity team is part of the Private Sector business unit that invests globally in early- and growth stage SMEs and private equity funds with a strong link with the Dutch economy. Invest International’s priority sectors are Agri-food, Climate & energy, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Water & infra.

The Equity team is responsible for:

investing in private equity funds, companies and projects

managing a growing investment portfolio, and

realizing exits at attractive returns.

The team is supported by ESG and impact specialists and can rely on sector expertise of Invest International’s sector teams. On transactions, the team will often work closely together and/or co-invest with other institutions such as development banks, investment funds and multilateral organizations. The team is expected to expand in the coming years as the portfolio grows.

A position in the team offers a unique opportunity in the field of international transactions. You will be exposed to a wide range of investments, ranging from investment funds (PE/VC and Impact funds), SMEs, Mid and Large Corporates to project finance transactions. And you will contribute to building a new team and developing the Equity practice area of Invest International.

Role and responsibilities

In this role you:

You will actively support the deal teams in the entire investment process, engaging in management level meetings, screening new investment opportunities, and conducting investment analysis.

Participate with Investment Managers in due diligence and research.

Perform deep dives into markets/sub-sectors that could be of interest to the equity team to determine future (direct) investment angles and opportunities.

Work on new projects within the team/department and participate in organization-wide projects.

Contribute to building a great, high quality, ambitious, hard-working and fun-loving Equity team!

Job requirements

In addition to basic knowledge of finance and economics, you have a curious and proactive attitude towards entrepreneurs active in developing and emerging countries. You have knowledge of, or affinity with, developing and emerging countries, with a preference for experience at the intersection of investment, impact and development cooperation.

You are currently pursuing a MSc or finalizing your BSc degree, preferably in the field of finance, economics, engineering or business administration. You have an interest in the fields of private equity, venture capital and impact finance.

Furthermore, the ideal candidate has the following skills and competencies:

You are an experienced MS Office suite user including skills to make Excel calculations.

You have knowledge of reading financial reports.

Critical, proactive, sensitive to the environment, strong in communication and eager to learn.

You are flexible, pragmatic, and capable of working on several assignments at the same time.
