The Academic Instructor - Math serves as a classroom teacher in a structured, traditional academic setting. This role delivers mathematics instruction aligned to high school completion and career-readiness standards for students ages 16–24.

The instructor fosters a disciplined, motivating classroom culture where students can rebuild academic confidence and master foundational and advanced math concepts.

• Deliver engaging math instruction in a structured classroom environment (e.g., Algebra, Geometry, foundational math skills).
• Maintain a focused, orderly classroom environment that promotes maximum student motivation and learning.
• Establish strong student–teacher rapport built on respect, consistency, and high expectations.
• Utilize all available curriculum resources and instructional tools.
• Monitor and maintain accurate student personnel folders and academic records.
• Record and forward daily attendance to the Student Records department.
• Support students in progressing toward high school diploma or equivalency completion.

• Certified to teach in the state of Iowa (required).
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (preferred).
• Must pass a drug screen in compliance with Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Employment contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
• This position is classified as safety-sensitive and requires pre-employment drug/alcohol testing consistent with state law and organizational policy.

Job Corps is the largest nationwide residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 60 years.
