Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to all requests for patient care as directed.
  • Complete documentation and records according to department and state policies.
  • Ensure vehicle and equipment are ready for responses at all times.
  • Perform assigned duties in the emergency department under the supervision of the Emergency Room Nurse, Physician, and/or Supervisor.
  • Act as a team leader when dealing with emergency responses.
  • Takes proper care of the vehicle and equipment.
  • Pursue new levels in paramedicine technology and participate in activities that contribute to professional growth and development.
  • Participate in community activities that improve the public’s understanding of the EMS system.
  • Attend and complete all required safety and annual training requirements as assigned.
  • Follow the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Promote effective working relations and work effectively as part of a department inter‑and intra‑departmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
Non‑Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional Requirements
  • Complete annual education requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Wear identification while on duty.
  • Maintain regulatory requirements, including all state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Comply with all organizational policies.
  • Conduct oneself as a professional in accordance with PRIDE values.
  • Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and in‑services.
Job Requirements
  • Current Paramedic state certification.
  • Minimum of two years full‑time experience as a provider of prehospital care.
  • Current certification in CPR, American Heart Association Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR for the professional rescuer.
  • Current certification in advanced cardiac life support, American Heart Association.
  • Current motor vehicle operator state license.
