Part-time Nature Center Assistant

The permanent part-time Nature Center Program Assistant reports to the Naturalist located at the Neal Moeller Environmental Education Center located in Yellow Smoke Park near Denison. This is a 40 hours per week position typically running from mid April through mid November and usually one day per week in the winter. Approximately 1500 hours per year max. Starting wage will be up to $17 per hour depending on qualifications.

Applicant must possess a valid drivers license and be at least 18 years of age.

Duties include, but are not limited to, helping the Naturalist plan, prepare, and teach public programs, working with and handling a wide variety of animals, and general cleaning and maintenance of the Nature Center. Will also be helping take care of animals, building displays, landscape work, mowing and trimming around the building, public relations, supervising volunteers, answering phones, etc... Experience with computers is a plus.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and may require driving and working in adverse weather conditions.

Weekend, Holiday, and some evening hours are required. EOE. Prorated Holiday, vacation, and sick leave benefits are included.

The ability to help the Naturalist plan, prepare, and teach a variety of public programs is strongly preferred. Must be willing and able to handle a variety of small animals. A valid drivers license required. Must be 18.
