Head Start & Early Head Start Bilingual Family Advocate

West Central Community Action is seeking a Bilingual Family Advocate. Position is based in Denison, Iowa.

• Provide support, serve as a resource, and act as a liaison between Head Start, families, and the community.
• Continuously recruit children and families for all Head Start programs.
• Act as an interpreter for families and staff when language is a barrier and assist Spanish‑speaking clients through the Head Start Program.
• Lead recruitment efforts and maintain full enrollment for each assigned classroom and an active waitlist for the assigned area.
• Attend local community meetings and be knowledgeable of local community resources. Build strong relationships with Head Start and Early Head Start parents, providing training and support as needed.
• Accurately record home visits, family goals, referrals, case notes, and other necessary reports and documentation.
• Ensure completion of the required background check, including fingerprinting.

• Ability to read, speak, and write in both English and Spanish.
• Strong and efficient computer skills.
• Current valid driver’s license and current valid auto liability insurance.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Human Services, or Social Work is preferred;
  Family Development Specialist certification with two years of relevant experience is considered in lieu of a degree (certification must be completed within 18 months of hire).
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Base rate of $17.00 per hour (rate may increase based on educational level).
