Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Manager, Admissions/Patient Access, this position supervises the functions of the Admitting Department, including effective leadership, decision-making, adherence to departmental standards and policy guidelines in the absence of the department Manager. It involves training departmental staff, handling employee, patient and visitor concerns, escalating issues to upper management, ensuring processes and policies are in place, and running the department effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications- Reading and numerical competency; at least one year of college coursework preferred, including business, accounting, healthcare or office management classes.
- A minimum of five years of experience, including medical, management/supervisory and Admissions/registration department experience; acute hospital experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of third‑party payors including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance; strong people skills, telephone technique, personal appearance, organization, communication (verbal and written), independence, flexibility, analytical and arithmetic skills, negotiation, problem solving, and computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet applications; ability to prioritize tasks for efficient workflow.
