role: the part‑time library information technician supports daily operations of library services.
hourly rate: $16.50 per hour.
essential functions & responsibilities- uses all facets of automated, integrated library system (ils) including creating and maintaining accurate records for library users and materials, inventory control, report generation, opac displays, and tracking materials from acquisition through processing to end user.
- supports customer service delivery at the library. Assists students, faculty, staff, and the community in accessing library services in person, in writing, and by telephone, and communicates information regarding library procedures.
- demonstrates and explains use of equipment, databases, study rooms and printing (goprint), booking of library resources.
- trains and directs daily workflow of library clerks and work‑study students, escalating issues to librarian as appropriate.
- develops marketing materials to promote library events and activities.
- performs other duties as needed or assigned.
experience: two to five years of similar or related experience.
education: (1) a two‑year college degree or (2) completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) completion of a specialized and extensive in‑house training or apprenticeship program.
interpersonal skills: regular interaction with students, visitors, vendors, providing service and information with courtesy.
other skills: ability to use computer systems to input data, prepare reports, and analyze data; sound decision‑making skills; basic problem‑solving skills; working knowledge of microsoft office products, ils systems, oclc and metadata.
physical requirementsthe work requires the ability to push loaded book carts up to 50 lb, walking, sitting, stooping, and routinely lifting lightweight items.
work environmentregular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office.
application requirementssubmission of three professional references. The position is security sensitive and will require a criminal background check.
