Responsibilities
Texoma Medical Center, a 414-bed acute care facility, serves North Texas and Southern Oklahoma with a range of physical, mental and spiritual health services. The OR Tech is responsible for knowledge of anatomy and physiology of surgical sites, passes instruments on all procedures or acts as an assistant and holds retractors as needed, and practices aseptic technique. Assists in preparation of the room prior to surgery and cleans the room after surgery.
Assists staff and surgeons to ensure instruments, supplies, and equipment are available when needed for surgical procedures. Has two years of experience in the Operating Room as a scrub tech. Works in the instrument room as needed. Takes assigned call as required. Exhibits knowledge of age-specific needs of patients of all psychosocial and/or cultural backgrounds. Participates in cost containment issues in the Operating Room.

Qualifications- Requires the completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program (CST or TS-C) or proven prior employment as a surgical technologist before September 1, 2009.
- Must have current CST or TS-C certification or be a LVN or provide proof of employment as a practicing surgical technologist in a health care facility before September 1, 2009.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines must be completed during new hire orientation prior to working in a clinical setting.
- Must be able to read and comprehend information related to perioperative operations within the job class.
- Minimum computer literacy in keyboarding and Microsoft Windows.
- Ability to communicate effectively and address the special needs of patients of all age groups.
