The Pharmacy Technician works under direct supervision of the licensed pharmacist and/or Lead Pharmacy Technician and is responsible for providing pharmacy services including dispensing, nonsterile and sterile compounding, unit dosing, performing inventory control, outdating medications, unit inspections, compliance audits, and maintaining pharmacy records. Major responsibilities of the pharmacy technician will vary depending on the role assigned to him or her and how they may be designated on their shift.
Responsibilities- Dispense medication as ordered by medical staff.
- Compounded nonsterile and sterile medications.
- Conduct unit dosing, inventory control, and outdating of medications.
- Perform unit inspections and compliance audits.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare staff to ensure medication safety.
- Assist in pharmacy information system updates.
- Adhere to state and federal regulations, including OSHA and HIPAA.
- Support medication retrieval and delivery during shifts.
- Assist in inventory management and waste disposal.
