Job Summary
As a valued member of our Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FS/QA) team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of food safety. You will conduct routine sanitation checks, ensuring that HACCP and USDA regulations are consistently followed, and will perform NSIS procedures by inspecting live hogs, heads, carcasses, and viscera to identify and control potential food safety hazards throughout the processing line.
Responsibilities- Recognize and identify diseases, consumer concerns, and contamination in pork/swine, ensuring compliance with Federal Regulations, Directives, and Guidelines.
- Ensure products meet RTC pork definitions, communicate with helpers to use correct tags/markings, and verify inspection documentation with USDA officials and Plant Management.
- Collaborate with other departments to implement procedure changes, address non‑compliance issues, and apply technical knowledge to prevent and resolve product/process failures.
- Interpret customer specifications, apply subjective quality decisions (appearance, texture, etc.), and continuously improve product quality through process attention and ongoing improvements.
- High school diploma or GED (internal candidates with 4+ years of experience may be considered for waiver).
- Ability to complete required forms in English, with reading and writing proficiency.
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions, create and interpret technical documents, and use monitoring equipment and software such as spreadsheets, presentations, and word processing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and addressing inquiries from customers or regulatory agencies.
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Preferred: 2+ years’ experience in a related field (harvest processing, USDA inspection, or FSQA).

Bilingual skills for diverse, multicultural environments. - Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, food science, meat processing, and USDA regulations.
The role requires working in a plant setting with wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals. Tasks include lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, repetitive motions, standing for prolonged periods, and using hands for detailed examinations. Vision requirements include close and distance vision and the ability to differentiate colors. Work may involve handling live animals and operating knives and inspection tools in livestock areas.
