LicensureAppropriate driver’s license and endorsements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ability to work with administration, teachers, staff, students, parents, and general public.
- To act as a liaison between the public and the school, and in so doing promote the general image of the total school system.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
- Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
- Keep assigned bus clean.
- Keep on assigned schedule.
- Check bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
- Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or late arrival.
- Discharge students only at authorized stops.
- Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Transport only authorized students.
- Report all accidents and complete required reports.
- Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Analytical and Reasoning SkillsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving student behavior.
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the substitute employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The substitute employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The substitute employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The substitute employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the substitute employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and vibration. The substitute employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

Will perform other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee, necessary and appropriate to achievement of the program and/or District goals and objectives.
