Primary
Purpose:
Under direct supervision of the principal, provide reception and clerical assistance for the efficient operation of the campus.
Education and Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- One year of clerical experience in an office setting
Special Knowledge and
Skills:
- Must be familiar with basic computer programs and operations
- Proficient keyboarding skills
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow written instructions
- Ability to operate multi-line phone system
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
- Ability to exercise good judgment in handling confidential information
- Receives and directs incoming calls, take reliable messages, and routes to appropriate staff.
- Greets and directs campus visitors, maintains visitor log, and issues visitor passes when required.
- Assists parents in checking students in and out of school.
- Receives, sorts, and distributes mail, messages, documents, and other deliveries.
- Assists with the receipt and distribution of student materials, including homework requests and grade reports.
- Assists with preparation of materials for mailing, including preparing labels, stuffing envelopes, etc.
- Maintains computerized files using personal computer, including reports, employee roster, and mailing list.
- Serves as primary staff and student attendance monitor.
- Prepares attendance reports for principal.
- Gathers staff Absentee from Duty Forms, substitute requests, doctor excuses student absences and early dismissals, etc.
- Assists secretary with paraprofessional timekeeping, in and out punches.
- Follows district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Participates in professional development, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Tools and Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional district-wide and statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
