Job Summary

J&L Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Surveyor with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting site surveys, ensuring accurate measurements, and providing crucial data for project planning and execution. This role requires expertise in using surveying equipment, analyzing topographical data, and collaborating with project managers and field crews to ensure precise construction layouts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field surveys to establish reference points and elevations for construction projects.
  • Use surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS, and levels to gather accurate data.
  • Interpret and verify construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field crews to ensure survey accuracy.
  • Provide detailed survey reports and maintain records of measurements.
  • Verify and mark construction site boundaries, utilities, and other critical features.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Adjust survey methods and techniques based on project needs and site conditions.
  • Maintain reliability and punctuality, arriving on time to job sites and meetings to ensure project schedules stay on track.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a construction surveyor.
  • Familiar with Topcon surveying instruments, GNSS systems, CAD and field software programs.
  • Strong understanding of construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to punctuality and dependability, ensuring projects progress smoothly.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in civil underground utility projects.
  • Certification in land surveying or related field.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
